One Day National Seminar
“LA NOURRITURE – FARM OR FABRICATE”
U.G Department of Nutrition, Department of Zoology Madina Degree & PG College for Women’s & Global College of Pharmacy organized a national seminar on title La- Nourriture Farm or Fabricate – An Insight on Nutriment and Supplement on 30th January 2019, Wednesday. Target audiences were about 600 students from various colleges. 30 faculties & 15 delegates from various organizations
ABOUT THE SEMINAR:
The seminar aimed to provide an understanding about the vital role of nutrition in health and healing. It highlighted on the nutrition from farm foods and from Food Supplements. The colloquia emphasized on whether the role of supplement is needed or not in our day –to-day life. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Ch.Venkata Ramana Devi, Dean Faculty of science, OU, key note speaker of the seminar who addressed the gathering and set the tone for the topic. The colloquia was framed with many scientific sessions by renowned speakers.
The first scientific session was by Ms. Suhasini Mudraganam: Chief Nutritionist Truweight, an expert with 15yrs of experience in Food science & Nutrition and Dietetics, a Food scientist, Nutritionist, Clinical Dietician, Researcher, Academician and a Diabetic educator, who focused on the Nutrients to be obtained from farm food or fabricated food & highlighted the importance of functional foods, Novel proteins & its role in preventive health.
The next speaker of the seminar ,Dr. Bhupesh kumar- Consultant Physician & Gastroenterologist, Indo-Us Hospital, Hyd , an expert with 13yrs of experience, who spoke on Gut physiology and the crucial role of diet in shaping the gut microbiota, & current understanding of the development & composition of the human GI. His talk was followed by , Dr T. Jyothirmayi- Sr. Principal Scientist CFTRI, Hyd, an expert with 25yrs of experience in R&D in the field of Biochemistry, Bio technology, food science & technology, dealt with the present idea about food safety & existence of different supplement in the market and also discussed about the food regulatory system & future potential of food supplements.
Further the audience were enlightened by our other speaker ,Mohammed Abdul Raoof – Group Head,- Oncology Scientific Writing, Novartis, Hyd, an expert with 14yrs of experience in areas like Pharma Regulatory Affairs , Clinical Research, Academician, Pharmacist, who highlighted on the concept of Food Engineering & how the food engineer works to produce, analyse, & design a healthy, tasty & sustainable food products. The last scientific session was given by Mr.Ryan Fernando – Celebrity Nutritionist, Co-founder QUA Nutrition, Bangalore, who is a renowned Nutritionist for Well-known celebrities & sports personnel, spoke on the approach to food supplements & its practice along with nuances of enhanced requirement of protein, supplement stratergies.
The seminar also gave opportunity to Research scholars to present their work in form of oral or poster presentation which was judged by our expert panel Dr.Uma Chitra, Head department of Clinical Dietetics, Kasturba Gandhi Degree college, & Dr. P. Ashlesha , Asst. Professor(c) OU college for women. Overall the seminar was successful and achieved the mission of imparting the knowledge & awareness about food & food supplements.
